Rebirth Guide: When to Reset

Rebirth is Roll An Army’s prestige button: it wipes your base upgrades, keeps every unit and Gem you own, and permanently boosts all the money you earn from then on. Handled well, it is the difference between crawling through the Mega tier and affording Godly-level upgrades. This guide covers the exact trade and when to take it.

What you keep and what you lose

Kept: every unit you have rolled (your whole army and your Index progress) and all of your Gems.

Reset: the base upgrades you bought with money — money upgrades, damage, luck levels, roll count, zombie tier and so on. You buy them back, faster, with your boosted income.

Gained: a permanent money multiplier. The first recorded rebirth in footage granted a +100% money boost, and the boost stacks as you rebirth again.

The cost curve

Rebirth costs money, and each one costs more than the last. Recorded costs start around 1 billion for the first rebirth and climb steeply from there (one later rebirth was priced at 10.5 billion). The practical read: early rebirths come quickly once your income plateaus, and the price of the next one is the best progress bar in the mid-game.

Video walkthrough — watch the rebirth decision live: DinozaurPlays weighs the reset against the units and Gems he keeps, then reinvests the boosted income.

When to rebirth

The rule that works: rebirth when the next base upgrade costs more than your income can refill in a short session. Concretely:

  1. You have maxed (or nearly maxed) the money upgrades available to you.
  2. The next meaningful upgrade or roll budget would take ages at current income.
  3. You can afford the rebirth price without selling anything — you never lose units, so there is nothing to protect except patience.

Do not rebirth mid-push for a specific luck milestone; finish the push first, because your luck level resets with everything else.

Why late-game demands rebirths

Endgame unit upgrades are priced in astronomical money. One recorded Zeus upgrade ran to 2.5 quintillion — a number no single-run income reaches, but a few stacked rebirth multipliers make approachable. This is the game’s intended curve: roll, upgrade, plateau, rebirth, repeat, with each cycle funding a bigger push up the rarity ladder.

Rebirth day checklist

  • Roll or buy anything you still want from your current luck level first.
  • Spend spare Gems in the gem shop — Gems survive, so there is no reason to hoard them across the reset.
  • Note your zombie tier comfort level; you will re-climb it quickly.
  • Rebirth, then immediately re-buy money upgrades and roll count — those two restore your tempo fastest.
